Husky Breeding Tips?

Hiya my gf and i are planning on setting up a husky breeding bussiness.

Are any experienced breeders out there able to give us some hints and tips please , that will help in starting it... ?

May I ask why??? As they generally do not make very good pets, especially for the novice dog owner.

Huskies are a very specialized breed, with very specific requirements. I can't imagine that there are many people in this country that can possibly meet those requirements.

Please contact some good breeders direct and speak to the people involved in the racing/keeping of these dogs.

Oh and by the way, the only people thay make a profit out of producing puppies, are the puppy farmers and they have little consideration for the health and welfare of, either their breeding stock, or the puppies they produce.

Good breeders do it for the love of the dogs and to improve their breed.....More often than not, spending far more on their own dogs, than they ever get back after breeding the occasional litter Wink

2 words that should never be put together are BREEDING and BUSINESS.

A breeder is someone who first and foremost has the breed at heart and looks to improve the bloodlines and the breed standard also for temperament. Huskys are as Jules said a very specialist breed and many end up in the wrong hands, I am assuming you are experienced Husky owners.

I never get what peoples problems on this website are with breeders, how do you think that the "experienced breeder" got to be experienced? They were not born with it they learned it and tried it, many probly failed at the beginning of their career but stuck at it and learned from their mistakes, i know this is hard for people to believe people experimenting in breeding but thats how the breeders learned what to do.

You're missing the point, we aren't against breeding but we are against breeding as a 'business'. The only reason people should breed is for the improvement of that breed/species and for no other reason, therefore there has to be an intention to retain one of the offspring to further your breeding lines and of course responsibility for all the babies you produce for their lifetime.

do you work / show your huskies ?

would you be willing to take puppies back if it doesn't work out with the new owners ?

i was looking in to getting a huskey before i got my german shepherd and i must say they are extremely demanding to look after.

first all all they are pack animals so they dont live well alone at all, they need a large dog flap and a kennel outside as they prefer to be outside all the time.

They also need a lot of exercise as they are working dogs.

i know of a huskey breeder near me and even he only breeds when he has a full waiting list for buyers. He even advised me that this breed would not be suitable for me at the moment and i couldnt agree more.

There are not alot of people who can meet there requirements and i would hate to see this beautiful breed in the wrong hands.
