| Post subject: my cat had a hernia |

| my cat is 17 years old and suffered a rectal hernia and is alot of pain because he cannot pass bouls. They cant due surgerydur to his age and gave him stool softener. is there anything else i can do to help him? |

A hernia is a build up of soft tissues, usually the muscles weaken and the structures that are held by the muscle ( fat, prostate, bladder, etc) move backward and herniate.
i think you should make him as comfortable as possible and keep everthing the same, also you could give high fibre food and prevent your cat from licking the area.
i think you should ring your vet also to see what they suggest.. ____________
