SAINT BERNARDS
the short haired is the original breed, but they bred the long haired variety as they thought it would keep the dog warmer in the snow. wrong the long haired variety has a tendency to develop icicles in freezing conditions, so they reverted back to the short haired variety as the rescue breed. |

| The oldest dog I ever had was my mini foxie cross jack russell she lived until she was 20 years of age. I thought it was an excellent age. But it seems they can grow much older. |

Taken from wikipedia
Sylvia, a matchbox-size Yorkshire Terrier owned by Arthur Marples of Blackburn, England, was the smallest dog in recorded history. The dog died in 1945 when she was almost two years old, at which point she stood 2.5 inches tall at the shoulder, measured 3.5 inches from nose tip to tail, and weighed 4 ounces.

Apparently if they are brought up with other dogs they will mimic their bark, if they are only dogs they make a yodelling sound.
That would freak my postman right out! |
