hey had to take copper the vets today as he was drooling quite bad last night and this morning, didnt know whether it was because he ran into the wall last night after gettin scared cus chips fell off the table or because he might of ate crab sticks as they where in the bin but this morning where by the cat flap, asked the vet if he could have food poisoning and the vet didnt know much she checked his mouth then gave him an antibiotic/steroid injection saying he may just be trying to be sick..
im so worried about him as ive never seen a cat drooling before, anyone else seen it? if so wat was the problem.. could u shed some light on the subject lol ____________

Sorry to hear Copper's not well, cats often drool when they feel sick, has he vomited at all, or any diarrhoea? Is he still eating well? How old is he? Another reason for salivating can be severe dental problems, though if that was the case the vet should have noticed.
Does Copper eat silly things like bits of string or hairbands?
It does sound like he is feeling nauseous, but in my experience to salivate excessively cats usually feel very sick. Has he stopped now after the injections?
If he has I'd feed him a bland diet (chicken/fish) for a few days until he's back to normal and keep an eye on him for vomiting.

copper is only 5, and he has been eating, thanks for your replies he seems to have stopped drooling now but im still keeping an eye on him just incase, i also found vomit wen i got up so maybe hes got it out of his system now whatever was causing him to feel under the weather.
One of my cats salivates when she's kneading all snuggly and looking for a teat (she was a rescue who likely didn't get proper weaning from her mother).
She also salivated EXCESSIVELY once when she had eaten a stink bug (aka shield bug). She had spit all over her face and drooling from her mouth, as she was trying to throw it up.
Once she managed to get it out (it was still alive, might I add!), she was fine.
Hopefully it was just the need to vomit that made the little one drool like that. Maybe she ate a bug or something that didn't agree with her.
