Today i got my first pet bird, he's a cockatial as the title said and i named him Dexter (Well i say i named him, my sister wouldnt let me name anything, she did) He is named Dexter after that police guy in that program that is a cerial killer because he kills criminals. Apparently he is six months old and as you would have thought he is a bit scared!
There will be pics soon
Very Happy

Post subject: we have just got a cockatiel too Reply with quote

not sure if he is male or female or his age I got him from an Auction site I was doing what my husband hates and surfing through the pets for sale in out area section and I came across this very sad looking boy called Barney his cage in the picture looked white and he looked very thin she wanted $100 for him and his cage I emailed her and set up a time to go and see him she bought the cage out and the white was bird poop his cage was actually black and way too small for him and the bottom of his cage was 3 inches thick with seed and poop. I offered her $50.00 so that I could get him out of there she accepted and handed the cage to me now the whole time I was standing at the door and she was holding the cage we never heard a sound the second she handed the cage to me he started squawking I set his cage in the passenger seat and attached it using the seat belt we live a good 30 - 40 mins away from where I picked him up he never stopped squawking fora good 20 mins he was dancing and you could see he was so happy to be out of there. I started whistling and by the time we got home he had started copying me I took him out of the cage straight away and put him in the cage we had for the budgie as it is a 3 tier cage more suitable for him we called it Charlies Mansion and after scrubbing the cage he came in we put Charlie our Budgie in it as it is a good sized budgie cage.

We have had Barney for a few months now and he can now almost wolf whistle I am are still working on it with him he can do the phone he has the light saber sound from my sons Star wars game down pat and he can crow like a rooster lol (that is the free range hens next door) as during the day we hang the cages outside when its a nice day he still sqawks at times but that's usually when hes waiting to go outside. I have noticed that Charlie our Budgie has become a lot more active since Barney came to live with us.

As for the husband once he saw the state of the cage and how thin Barney was he understood I couldn't leave him there. anyway as I pointed out to him he said no more cats he never said anything about getting anymore birds hehehehehe.
