I've recently noticed that both of my chins have been 'wiping' their mouths with their paws. They normally do this after they've eaten or chewed on something. These are my first chinchillas so I'm not sure if this is normal, or if there is a problem. Should I take them to the vet?
p.s. they seem to be eating o.k.

My chinchillas do it all the time, they are rather fussy about keeping thier coat clean so they are more than likely just rubbing off any crumbs that may have stuck to thier fur.
If you are concerend though it may be worth taking them to the vet for a dental check. I have just recently found out that one of my chinchillas has a gum disease and one of her back teeth was growing into her gums. The problem with chinchillas is that you can't see the back teeth ( not unless you want to risk getting bitten) so the only good way to get them checked is by going to the vets. ____________
