Hi,
I am actualy asking this on behalf of my sisster who has just taken in a lovely 8 week old kitten.
She in now 10 weeks old but still wont eat cat or kitten food at all and my sister is conserned about its heath.
She will be alowed out eventualy but until she has her anoculations and been neuterd obviosly she has to stay home.
She is exelent with the litter tray , is very friendly and has loads of energy but is still very small but is growing.
Basicaly My sister gives it kitten milk every morning and night , leavs biscit out all the time and gives kitten meat morning and evening but the cat just will not touch it at all !!!
And instead lives off all the scrapps that my sisters toddler throws on the floor from banana, chicken , potatoes the lot but not cat food.
My sister has tried loads of diffrent brands ofcat food, she has tried mixing a tiny bit of cat food with plenty of chicken or potatoes etc and the cat just turns her nose up even if its half a teaspoon of kitten food and 2 table spoons of fresh cooked chicken or mince even !!
My sister has even tried putting the kitten in a separate room while feeding her son and making sure that the cat has no food other than the cat food but she would rather just starve to death !!!
After 2 whole days they had to give in !!!
any idears would be great as my sister is worried that the kitten will be lacking vitamins.
The vet isnt botherd and says that cats are ften fussy and not to worry but my sister is realy worried.
My father is of no help and I cant think of any thing other than looking into what the cat needs nutrishenaly and making up her own meals but she realy dosent want to have to that but obviosly she will if needs be.
so if any one has a brillient tip We would love to hear it !!1
Love coliel

i know you probably wont like this advice but i would stop feeding it scraps as she is learning quite a bad a habit and cats genarally have a way of getting what they want, and if the scraps arnt there the kitten should eventually eat its own food, u have to be cruel to be kind so to speak,if the kitten laps up milk why not get it some fish based baby food as it might not be properly weaned and then gradually introduce wet kitten food or dry food which ever your sister prefers to feed.
also the kitten may be eating the biscuits your sister leaves out i dont leave biscuits out at all as when it comes to dinner time my cats tend not to eat as much i only give my cats biscuits of a night so they wont bother to get me up too early lol some people dont feed wet food at all they just feed dry food as biscuits provide a meal aswell. hope the kitten starts eating its own food soon lol ____________
