after reading your post catmad it reminded me of a story that happened to richard once.
he used to drive a van for a living and one day he phoned me up to tell me of his heroic if somewhat misguided bird rescue.
he had been driving through a town somewhere in the midlands when he saw a large bird in the middle of the road struggling as it had a broken wing. he decided to stop the traffic and phone up the r.s.p.c.a.
anyway he got on the phone and said you need to come there is an EMU on the road and it is either gonna get killed or cause an accident. you can imagine the inspector at the other end of the line wondering where the hell an emu had come from in the middle of england. anyway he waited around for their arrival and felt rather embarrassed when he was told it was a swan. why he thought it was an emu i will never know, but it did get rescued and ended up going to a local waterfowl sanctuary.
when he told me i couldn't stop laughing. i know he isn't very well up with his wildlife, but come on there are several slight differences between the 2. now whenever we are out and i see a swan, he gets a gentle reminder . ____________
