| Post subject: Tale of a Mink! |
 |
|
Ok I have had a bad week but there was part of this week that has been truely hillarious sp*
My mom is a pharmacist and while at work this week ... a Ferret.... go in!
It was running a mock in the pharmacy and customers were screaming and god it was a nightmare!
So momcalled my dad to try and catch it and get it out the shop!
So along came dad with his cat basket and some gardening gloves and set to work!
He caught it and placed it in the basket where it promptly burst out and was again running all over the shop!
So they called the local PDSA who gave them a better box and left them to it!
So again dad managed to catch it again and it was now screaching with fear and smelling like a Skunk that had just spotted a bear!
He taped up the box and put it in the car to take home so he could get a recue center to come get it!
ANYWAY ......... on the way home the Ferret escaped from the box pulled the carpet up in the back got under it and was now sitting between the inner and outter panells or the car on the petrol tank!
The fun begins!
It would not come out, The Ferret rescue center my dad my brother the next door neighbour tried for 3 hours to get it out and could not get it!
It was now we find out it was not a Ferret as we thought but a highbrid Mink Polecat!
illeagal to keep and also illeagal to le back in to the wild! So in the car it remained!
A day went by with my dad unable to use his car and the rescue people taking up permanent camp trying to catch this creature which is apparently extreamely savage and should not be attempted to be moved by hand!! (Daddy picked him up twice).
The next day my dad to came down to see it happily sat on the dash of the car looking very smug at my dad!
It had eaten the food in the trap and not got locked in as it had somehow managed to not trigger the trap that had been left!
Dad went off and made a noose out of some pipe and string and after a few failed attemps ........
HE GOT THE BUGGER
So after having a few photo's taken with the critter it was taken to Coventry to an animal sanctuary where it will be staying for the rest of it's life ..
the man said that it has probably come from the group of Minks that animal rights activists freed last year and the animals had been mating with wild Ferrets and Pole cats to produce these really nasty highbrids!
So what a nightmare!
And isn't my dad a proper Steve Erwin!!!!
I will be putting the pictures up as soon as I get them!
Watch this space!!
Sorry for my crap spelling! lol |

This is not a Ferret though! It was either a Mink / Pole cat
or a Mink / Ferret but sounds like it might be the same lady! |

I always thought and have been informed that Pole Cats aren't roaming wild in England any more, and that there are now just pet pole cat 'marked' ferrets.
She does, well did take in ferrets, and this would still be classed as a ferret in her eyes.
it may not be her, but it does sound like her
Best wishes |

I thought the same about pole cats as I have only ever seen them in Zoos! I have seen a few ferrets weazels etc but not pole cats!
I think it is most probably a ferret / Mink I will find out, they said they would let us know where the *thing* ends up! and what it was! |

Yep my thougts too.
Also did you find out where in Coventry the sanctuary place was?
As if it is Rose's it will probably stay there for its mortla days as she rarely rehomes adults thats why at last count i believe she had 152!!!!!
She only rehomes certain ferrets, which are mainly kits, but if it has gone here then it will be in very safe hands, so see if you can find out exactly where in Coventry this place was?
Best wishes |
