Lucy has an ulcer

Postby pepsi97 » Sat Jul 25, 2009 12:07 am

Hello all, its been a while since i visited pet chat. We have recently moved house so have been a little preoccupied with the move. The pets took it well and were not too stressed, unlike me i was the stressed out one!

Took Lucy to the new vets as her poop was very black.i thought she may have a abdominal problem the vet diagnosed a stomach ulcer and gave her antepsin, a drug that coats the ulcer to protect it as it hesls luckily she should be ok.

Sooty our other elderly 12+ poodle cross had had swollen lymph nodes and hd a lot of blood tests came back fine so he has to go back in a week to check the lymph nodes again so that is a bit of a mystery to why he has swollen glands.just glad he is ok,he is still his old self the Victor Meldrew of the dog world he has always been grumpy so won't change now!

Cats are fine though molly is going to see the vet next week for a check up as she has a complex incurable condition she has put on a bit of weight might be due to the increase in the doseage of her steriod medication but she is holding her own the only tell tale sign of her illness is her slighly jaundiced ears bless her but she is a happy little soul so that he main thing! her brother Perry, went walkabouts about a month ago but came back the following evening appearing from under next doors van, he just chose to ignore our calling for him but came home when he was hungrey!!

hi everyone wow! its good to be back, Obviously there were problems with the forums when i originally posted about lucy & sooty.
seems to have duplicated the thread!
anyway Lucy had some tablets prescribed and i am pleased to say that she is a lot better now and her ulcer is under control, just have to keep an eye on her as she is an old lady now at 131/2 now
Sooty seems to be ok now i think it may have had something to do with having his vaccinations, he is almost 13 now.He does have a large fatty tumour under his neck that is quite large but the vet is sure that it is benign because he is otherwise well. its a bit too large to try to remove if he was a few years younger it may have ben able to remove it. he is eating well and is quite happy.

Hi pepsi, we are all ok. I sady lost Stumpy ( one of my chinchillas) a while ago. she had a severe probem with her teeth and was in and out of the vets every week. I also had to rehome my degus due to the constant noise waking my son up. I am fostering animals now though, i had a foster rabbit that has stayed lol and i had a male chinchilla come in last night which we have already decided to keep. :D

Its a rehoming forum, some of the animals are passed on from the RSPCA and others are just people who are in desperate need to rehome thier pets.

Damien is 5 now, he started school last month bless him. Thankyou for thoughts for stumpy, she is missed but never forgotten x
