Mouse Home Alone OK?

Postby christos » Wed Jan 28, 2009 9:06 pm

Hi, I have a spiny mouse about 3 years old that we have recently inherited from my girlfriends son (left Uni, no longer interested).

We are going away on holiday for a week and would like to know if it is reasonable to leave the mouse home alone for the week. Obviously she will have plenty of water and food. I would prefer not but not sure who to ask to look in. Her cage mate died fairly soon after the son bought her so a shame she has been on her own for so long but seems happy enough.

What do people think?

NO I don't think its reasonable to leave any animal on its own for any length of time with just food and water. Its also contravening animal welfare legislation.

Have you not got a neighbour or friend that can take care of the mouse for you while you are on holiday, alternatively you may want to consider rehoming.
