SKY NEWS - all dog owners to insure against attacking people

Postby petchatlover » Tue Mar 09, 2010 2:23 pm

Just heard this on TV what do you think? I think people should be fined if they attack another, why tarnish all pet owners with the same brush.

What do you think?

Ministers are also considering introducing New Dog Control Notices for misbehaving animals.

The "Dogbo" orders would allow police officers and council officials to force miscreant owners to muzzle, leash or even neuter their pets. In extreme cases the dogs could even be confiscated and given to new owners.

The measures, part of proposed changes to the Dangerous Dogs Act, are aimed at tackling the growing problem of vicious animals being bred for use as weapons.

I personaly will REFUSE to have Diesel insured, if they want to tackle dog being used by youths then make it illegal for people under a certain age to own a dog.
The only thing this will do is create more abandoned dogs.

Yes I agree. It's just another way of raising money for the insurance industry from good dog owners. The bad owners will not pay, it is a stupid law if it was to pass. I bet it is only a very small percentage that attack humans and those dogs are certain breeds.

I totally agree with you its a money making scheme.Besides most responsible dog owners act if they have have a dog that's likely to attack they tend to keep her/him on a lead.I met a gentleman in the park who had an 'agressive' dog, he was brilliant with her and training and patience she's so much better now :)

Just another tax and a good nice earner for the Insurance companies who must be rubbing their hands together has anybody checked to see just how many of the ministers who instigated this have their second, third etc., etc jobs with insurance company boards.

It is suppose to target the dog fighters drug dealers etc? Yeah like they even care and will register the tools of their trade and the illegal breeders will stop breeding their dogs and selling them to the criminals.

GET REAL LABOUR! we see every little earner you now instigate you have taxed everything except the air we breath.
