Terrier Group

There are over 22 dog breeds included in the Terrier group. The dogs vary in size and shape from the very small Norwich Terrier (10 inches, 10 pounds) to the Airedale (23 inches, 55 pounds) to the American Staffordshire (18 inches, 70 pounds). Terriers have been used for a variety of purposes including guarding, pit fighting, and especially hunting small predators such as: rats, badgers, foxes, and rabbits. They are known for their tenacious temperament and are admired for their ability to hunt and work relentlessly. With proper training and socialization they can make good house pets.
